Experienced
The SYC have regular Sunday afternoon races on Lake Fyans throughout the sailing Calendar. The clubs 12 races Pennant series is a feature of the sailing season, using a back calculated handicap system to ensure all participants have a chance of winning on the day. Other racing at the club includes trophy races, a twin series interclub event with the Horsham Yacht Club and invitations to several Regattas in our region.
Novice
The club will be running free learn to sail sessions throughout the season for members. We would like to congratulate Ross Bennett in his recent appointed as club Junior & Novice Training Coodinator. The Coordinator’s role will be to facilitate appropriate training session on appointed Sunday mornings.
Juniors
The club is keen to teach new members how to sail, and to pass on their experience so that we can all enjoy this great sport. The club will be holding a number of training events during the season as well as planning regular Sunday morning sail training sessions. We have recently increased our fleet of club training boats and offer them to members so that they don’t have to make the decision of which boat to purchase until they have gained some experience on the water.
Considering it?
Do you like the feeling of being free, getting up close to nature and forgetting about life on land?
Sailing lets you immerse yourself in the elements with only your dreams on the horizon. Using all parts of your body, the boat, wind and water you will get the feeling of gliding over the water with nothing there to stop you.
Sailability
The Sailability program is a worldwide "not for profit", volunteer-based organisation which, through the activity of sailing, enriches the lives of people with any type of disability, the elderly, the financially and socially disadvantaged.
Fees
Annual membership, race and camping fees.
